Luxury Yacht Charters in St Kitts & Nevis

Still largely undiscovered despite their natural beauty, remarkable history and unmatched charm, these twin Islands offer a rare opportunity to visit the “Secret Caribbean”.
Natural preservation is of major value on both Islands, on Nevis you’ll find no foreign fast food chains whilst in St.Kitts’ law holds that no building may be taller than the surrounding palm trees.
Once celebrated throughout Europe for their unimaginable wealth, today St Kitts & Nevis are known more for the sugary sand than the sugar cane. Basseterre and Charlestown, the islands’ capitals, are among the most captivating and picturesque of the Caribbean’s colonial harbor towns.
Nevis’s history as a sugar-producing powerhouse is evident all over the Island, and no more beautifully than at the handful of old plantations which have been restored as hotels. All have restaurants and bars and are worth a visit for a legendary planters punch or the quintessential English high tea.
At the center of St. Kitts stands the spectacular, cloud-fringed peak of Mount Liamuiga (pronounced Lee-a-mweega), a dormant volcano covered by dense tropical forest. And on Nevis, too, the ground rises upward into a cloud forest filled with green vervet monkeys and brilliant tropical flowers.

Cruising in St Kitts & Nevis

These two sister islands, 2 miles apart at their closest point, are located within easy reach of their more cosmopolitan neighbors of Antigua and St Barths.

The federation of St Kitts & Nevis has an abundance of unique activities and interesting sites, which cannot be found elsewhere in the Leeward Islands.

St Kitts offers sparkling blue anchorages fringed with tall palm trees, which are well protected from Easterly and Northerly winds and swell.

Nevis presents one of the most spectacular back-drops at anchor, with the volcanic peak in the clouds gently sloping down to palm fringed beaches.

If you are interested in history, exploring ashore and nature, or simply want to get away from it all, you will find these Islands to be a welcome port of call.

What you need to know

St Kitts and Nevis locals are known for their charming, courteous nature who will engage with friendly visitors who remember their manners!

The most celebrated marriage in Nevis history was when British Naval hero Lord Horatio Nelson married the widowed Frances Nisbet in 1787. The silk cotton tree under which they took their vows is still there, and you can view the marriage certificate at nearby St John’s Fig Tree Church.

One of America’s founding fathers Alexander Hamilton was born and raised on Nevis – visit his childhood home & birthplace at the Alexander Hamilton Museum.

The Strip on Frigate Bay, St Kitts hosts the undisputed hot-spot in the Islands for live music, dancing and local foods.

Legal tender is the Eastern Caribbean (EC) dollar. The rate of exchange is pegged at EC$2.70 to US$1. U.S. dollars are accepted everywhere, but change is usually in EC currency.

Most large hotels, restaurants, and shops accept major credit cards, but small inns and shops often do not. All banks, including the Royal Bank of St. Kitts and Scotia Bank, have ATMs.

Activities

Both islands have extinct volcanoes covered with lush tropical rainforest ideal for hiking and nature tours. A series of water-falls have also recently been “rediscovered” on Nevis thanks to Google earth!

Bird watching – on each Island there is a well-established and diverse eco-system, St Kitts alone has 9 large ponds hosting an amazing array of birdlife at certain times of year.

Both St Kitts & Nevis are steeped in history, a highlight is the man-made “Brimstone Hill Fortress” a UNESCO world heritage site often used as a historic military film set (Pirates of the Caribbean).

The Royal St. Kitts Golf Club was renovated in 2004; another course being developed is the Tom Fazio designed beauty at Christophe Harbour. The Four Seasons Resort Nevis has one of the Caribbean’s finest golf courses (a Robert Trent Jones Jr. classic) and remains a strong draw for the resort.

For a unique perspective on the rain forest take a Zip line tour on St Kitts, thrill seekers get panoramic views as they fly through the skies at speeds of up to 80 km/hr on a state of the art zip-line system. Sky Safari has a total of five zip-lines with dimensions of up to 1,350 ft. in length.

Unexplored wrecks & underwater hot springs make interesting diving and snorkeling, including the British Troop ship sunk in 1782 during the battle of Frigate Bay, now resting in the picturesque Whitehouse Bay.

Nevis is the nesting ground for Green, Leatherback and Hawksbill turtles. The Nevis Turtle group tags and monitors these creatures and often leads guided nighttime walks where visitors can watch the turtles preparing their nests.

If your idea of heaven is a rum shack on the beach, then Sunshines at Pinney’s Beach will fit the bill, home of the signature Killer Bee cocktail. Neighboring beach bars also have their own signature cocktails and Sundays are when things really ramp up.

Enjoy Cocktails on Banana’s roof top terrace with stunning sunset views – a must-do prior to an evening meal at this atmospheric restaurant on Nevis.

“Golden Rock”, a refurbished sugar plantation is one of the best lunch stops in the region for spectacular vistas, stunning gardens and delicious local fare including the lobster roll.

Enjoy afternoon tea at Montpelier Plantation Inn on Nevis, once a favourite of the late Princess Diana.

Planning Your Yacht Charter in St Kitts & Nevis

A crewed yacht charter is the ultimate indulgence – for some a once in life-time experience, for others a yearly ritual exploring new locations and exciting destinations only accessible by boat. Along with the captain we’ll assist in planning a comprehensive itinerary prior to your charter based on your interests and requests, as well as pointing out the “must sees” in the area.

St Kitts has direct flights from Europe and USA and can be a convenient location to meet your private charter yacht.

Contact our charter specialists and we will guide you through the booking process including assisting with airport transfers and pre charter hotel recommendations.

Choosing A Luxury Yacht & Crew

Once we have discussed your preferences in detail we will present selections of online yacht brochures with photos, menus and crew details and will continue to do so until we find the perfect match for you in terms of size, style & budget.

If you have firm dates in mind we’ll confirm availability with the owner and place a courtesy hold on your dates whilst your charter agreement is prepared and signed. It’s a good idea to have a second choice in mind, especially for busy holiday periods when yachts book up quickly.

We recommend booking your charter at least six months in advance to ensure that we secure your preferred yacht. Some of the most sought after yachts will book one year in advance for certain weeks or events. It is always possible to accommodate last minute bookings however we do recommend booking as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Twice a year we personally inspect the yachts and spend time with the crew to ensure that we are representing only the very best.

When to go

The high season is relatively short, starting in mid-December and stretching into early or mid-April. The shoulder season (roughly April to mid-June and November to mid-December) offers lower rates. Rates are lower still from mid-June through November.

April through November is the turtle nesting season so a unique opportunity to see nesting & hatching.

Early May is the annual “Booby Island Regatta & Sailing Festival” a fun and relaxed event with as much of the emphasis on partying in the evening as racing. Probably the best regatta you have never heard of.
